Have you considered attending a developer bootcamp or code school? Bloc is the world's largest online bootcamp, with programs in Full Stack Web Development, Frontend Web Development, iOS, Android, and UX Design. We have helped hundreds of people launch new careers through a holistic program that combines a project based curriculum, continous coaching from a seasoned mentor, and career coaching to ensure you are job-ready.
In 2013, Bloc partnered with New Relic to create an ongoing scholarship fund to promote diversity in software development and UX design. Each week, two applicants from under-represented groups are selected to receive a $500 partial scholarship toward any Bloc program. To-date, New Relic has funded over $50,000 in scholarships for Bloc students. Learn more about past scholarship recipients here.
New Relic is a software analytics company that makes sense of billions of metrics about millions of applications in real time. When a brand and customer experience depend on the performance of modern software, New Relic provides insight into an overall environment. Learn more here.
You are eligible if you are female, a veteran of the U.S. Military, or from an ethnic minority group underrepresented in the software engineering field (African American, Chicano/Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander).
Scholarships are reviewed and awarded weekly. The deadline to apply for given week is Sunday at Midnight. Applicants are contacted the following week to schedule an interview, and applicants are notified of a decision by the following Friday. Scholarships cannot be combined with any other Bloc promotion or discount.
Upon selection for the scholarship, we ask each applicant commit to blogging about their Bloc experience (either on their own blog or on Bloc's blog), and giving Bloc permission to share their projects and their Bloc experience with prospective students.
Please Note: If you are not selected for the Diversity Scholarship, you can re-apply at most one time. The Scholarship cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions. Students who have already enrolled are not eligible for the Scholarship.
